    DMK MP Kanimozhi took to Twitter to draw the attention of the state to the complaints of medical fraternity over inadequacy of gloves, vests and masks.


    Referring to reported shortage, Kanimozhi sought immediate steps from the state to end the shortage and said that government was duty bound to ensure uninterrupted supply of safety gadgets and equipment to doctors and nurses engaged in treatment of coronavirus infected patients and others.


    Reiterating the significance of providing masks, gloves and vests to the medical staff, Stalin, in a statement urged the government to act on war footing to ensure supply of ventilator equipped ICUs.


    Claiming that Rs 500 crore allotted by the state to fight COVID-19 was insufficient, Stalin also asked the government to make sure govt and private sector employees get their due salary and provide financial assistance to support the livelihood of unorganised workers for a month. Stalin also asked the govt to ensure provision of ration products to the poor during the testing time.

    Earlier in the day, a section of Twitterati, mostly Rajinikanth fans hit out at the DMK chief after he allegedly posted his statement with a message claiming that nine people had lost their lives and over 8,000 were infected with COVID-19 in the state. Though the DMK claimed it to be fake message, Local Administration Minister SP Velumani responded to it by doubting if the message posted and subsequently removed from the official twitter handle of Stalin were an attempt to trigger panic in the society by claiming that nine had died, while only nine were affected in the state.


    Velumani, who had a piece of advice for the LoP, said that leaders should be careful while sharing information pertaining to the pandemic spread.
