Pondy Speaker issues fresh notice to ‘rebel’ MLA 

 In the notice, the Speaker asked Dhanavelou to appear before him on March 16 and explain why he should not be disqualified under the anti-defection Act. It may be noted that government whip Anantharaman  submitted a memorandum demanding to disqualify Dhanavelou, elected from Bahour constituency, for his ‘anti-party’ activities and Dhanavelou then sought a fortnight’s time to give an explanation. Meanwhile, Dhanavelou also filed a  petition  in  the Madras High Court which was dismissed. Following this, Dhanavelou had failed to appear before the Speaker following a summon on March 6 stating that he was indisposed.
