Bird flu scare: Sanitise vehicles from Kerala, says PMK

“Number of coronavirus cases are already on the rise in Kerala. Now, there is a scare of spread of bird flu in the state. To prevent the spread of bird flu in Tamil Nadu, the state government should screen and sanitise all the vehicles entering Tamil Nadu from Kerala,” said Ramadoss, in a tweet.

The state is already witnessing the scare of coronavirus spread and now there are various reports that bird flu might enter the state from the neighbouring states. Already, there are speculations that COVID-19 is spreading from broiler chicken and the reports of bird flu has strengthened the rumours.

However, state Veterinary Minister Udumalai Radhakrishnan had dismissed the speculations that coronavirus will spread from broiler chickens. “Coronavirus will not spread from broiler chicken and eggs. Bird flu cases have not been reported so far in the state and all the inter-state borders will be closely monitored to prevent the entry of bird flu into the state,” said the Minister.

Meanwhile, the PMK also urged the Centre to play the automated awareness message played during phone calls in vernacular languages. “There is no doubt that the automated awareness message during the phone calls will be useful for people, but if it has to reach every nook and corner of the country the message has to be played in all the regional languages,” said Ramadoss.

The same demand was placed by VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan, who also urged the Centre to play the automated awareness message in local languages for people to understand the message and to be aware aboutcoronavirus.
