TRB Rajaa likely to be made DMK youth wing dy secy

Another son could rise in the DMK soon. Mannargudi MLA TRB Rajaa could soon be given a party post, ostensibly, to placate his unhappy father and Sriperumbudur MP TR Baalu who was made to quit his principal headquarters secretary post to incumbent KN Nehru recently.

DMK sources have it that Rajaa could be appointed deputy secretary of the DMK youth wing, the post currently held by Tiruchy (south) district in charge Mahesh Poyyamozhi. In elevating Rajaa, Stalin could hit two birds with one stone.

The elevation would restrict Mahesh Poyyamozhi to one post as well as satisfy veteran Baalu who was annoyed by the high command replacing him with Nehru.

The elevation would most likely be a ‘reward’ for Rajaa for successfully convincing his reluctant father to vacate the office for a deserving Nehru who had swept entire rural Tiruchy in the recent local body polls.

Even Baalu would be gladdened by the deal because the elevation would take his son closer to Stalin junior, who has been having a strong say in the party affairs of late. Be it seat selection or party reorganisation, the youth wing headed by Stalin junior would play key role in the days to come. Placing his son close to the influential member of the DMK first family would make good the loss he suffered in relinquishing the post for Nehru.

The only thing standing between Rajaa and the DMK youth wing post was another influential contender from the state capital.

Anna Nagar MLA MK Mohan’s son M Karthik, also a friend of DMK youth wing secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin, has also been vying for the deputy secretary post to step out of the shadow of IT wing secretary PTR Palanivel Thiagarajan.

Karthik’s rapport with Stalin junior could not be ignored given that it was believed to have even fetched the MLA ticket for his father Mohan in 2016.

A DMK senior, who confirmed the contention between the two young guns, remarked that the high command should not have a problem in settling it because both could be appointed deputy secretary, if necessary. “Unless the parent party, the deputy secretary post in the youth wing has no ceiling. Also, it requires only an announcement and no election is necessary.

Nothing prevents both heirs from being appointed youth wing secretaries,” the DMK senior requesting anonymity said, before adding that an official announcement could be delayed a little, which is unlikely, only if the high command has organisational polls of the parent party high on the agenda.
