Leaders greet DMK chief Stalin on his 67th birthday

“My best wishes to @mkstalin on his birthday. May he be blessed with good health and happiness always,” Rahul Gandhi Tweeted. Makkal Neethi Maiam leader Kamal Haasan also greeted the DMK chief. In his birthday greeting posted on his official Twitter handle, Kamal said, “Happy birthday to dear brother @mkstalin. My best wishes to him for his voice to echo for people and against injustices in Tamil Nadu for many more days.”

Addressing party workers in the meeting organised to celebrate DMK president Stalin’s birthday on Sunday, MP Kanimozhi said that several leaders in the country were maintaining silence on the divisive Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) of the ruling BJP because of the fear of institutions like CBI and Income Tax Department.

Kanimozhi said the people were living in a time when the Centre refuses to withdraw CAA legislated using its brute majority despite stringent opposition from the people. “Even as youths, students and women have hit the streets against the CAA, the Centre is adamant that it will not recall the legislation. 

The egotistic Centre refuses to withdraw even while the country is burning. The national capital is burning. Nonetheless, several leaders are keeping mum,” Kanimozhi remarked.

“We live in difficult times where several leaders are keeping mum on the divisive agenda of the ruling BJP fearing central institutions like I-T, CBI and Enforcement Directorate and brute majority of the Centre,” the DMK women’s wing secretary alleged, before adding that her brother and party president Stalin would be the first voice of dissent when divisive legislations like the CAA were being enacted against the minorities in the country.
