Rajini to meet Muslim leaders in TN soon
After his strong statement against the Centre over Delhi violence, actor Rajinikanth would be meeting Muslim religious leaders to hear their views on the issue of Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens.
Chennai
“Actor Rajinikanth spoke to us over phone expressing his willingness to meet and discuss the issues of the CAA-NRC. We will meet him soon. The date was not yet decided,” Dr VS Anwar Badhushah Ulavi, general secretary of Tamil Nadu Jama’athul Ulama Sabai (TNJUS) told DT Next.
Rajinikanth has responded to the statement issued by the TNJUS on February 5 that took exception the actor’s calling the anti-CAA agitation as instigated one and creating panic and use of such word is nothing but belittling the people’s movement. “The actor has reflected the views only on one section of the people but he failed to understand the protestors view point,” they had said in the statement.
TNJUS expressed its willingness to meet the actor to explain their point of view and also to help the actor to come out of the accusation of him being insulting the democratic protests.
Rajinikanth, had earlier, thrown his weight behind the contentious citizenship law and said it did not pose any threat to the Muslims. He, however, added that he will be the first to voice his support to them if needed.
