Thanjavur food institute to gain new status

The decision was taken at the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who approved amendments to the National Institutes of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) Bill, 2019 that will confer status of Institution of National Importance to the two institutes in Thanjavur and Kundli. Briefing media after the meeting, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said it was also decided that only experts from the field will be appointed chairmen of these Institutes.
