Stalin, who spotted his party workers campaigning on Eldams Road, stopped the vehicle and joined the cadre in the signature campaign. A spirited Stalin had even boarded a few city buses and collected signatures from passengers after explaining the demerits of CAA and National Register of Citizens (NRC).

In a statement issued later in the day, Stalin said, “The campaign should not be run mechanically. Before securing every signature, the signatories should be individually detailed about the betrayal of the BJP and the AIADMK governments. The campaign should be conducted in an emotional and intelligent one and transform into a people’s movement.”Signature campaign have rewritten history. There are many illustrations for that. Every signature the cadre secure should help withdraw CAA and stop NRC and NPR, he added.

Reiterating that one crore signatures would be collected before February 8, consolidated in the following two days and submitted to the President by the DMK led Opposition MPs soon, Stalin advised the cadre to work effectively to rip off the mask of ‘egotistic’ BJP and ‘atrocious’ AIADMK regimes.

After the DMK launched the campaign on February 2, the Congress led by its state party president KS Alagiri was also taking part in the drive across the city from Monday.
