‘State prepared to handle any suspected case’

After a meeting with the stakeholders from the King’s Institute, immigration authorities, airport healthcare officials, Directorate of Medical Education, Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, the senior officials from the State Health Department reiterated that the State is prepared to handle any suspected cases of Coronavirus.

“We are following the protocol issued by the Union Health Ministry for screening and testing of samples. The state healthcare personnel are keeping a regular watch and getting day to day update on the changes in the body condition, if any. Samples of people who have travelled to Wuhan will be tested, however, clinically all the patients are normal,” said the Health Minister.

The patients who were earlier admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital remain under observation. State Health Department officials said that the persons admitted to isolation wards show no symptoms of Coronavirus and testing is to be done only for the Chinese national.
