Special trains to clear Thaipoosam rush

In order to clear rush of additional passengers on account of ‘Thaipoosam’ festival at Arulmigu Dhandayuthapani Swami Temple at Palani in Dindigul district, the Southern Railway has made arrangements to introduce special trains.

Madurai

According to a statement, the Madurai-Palani Express special will depart from Madurai at 8.45 am on February 8, and reach Palani at 11.45 am on the same day. After leaving Madurai as per schedule, the train will halt at Sholavandan before departing at 9.10 am. The train will also touch Kodai road station and depart at 9.27 am. Further departures were scheduled at 9.55 am at Dindigul railway station and at 10.27 am from Oddanchatram ahead of its arrival in Palani at 11.15 am.


On return journey, the passengers could board Palani-Madurai Express special, which’s scheduled to leave Palani at 8 pm on February 8 and reach Madurai at 10.15 pm on the same day. The train will halt at stations in Oddanchatram, Dindigul, Kodai road, Sholavandan and Madurai.


After halting at these stations for passengers to board, the train will depart at 8 pm, 8.25 pm, 9 pm, 9.20 pm, 9.35 pm and reach Madurai at 10.15 pm, respectively.


Further, Coimbatore-Palani passenger special is also introduced for a period of 11 days from February 2 to 12.  It will leave Coimbatore at 09.45 am and reach Palani at 12.45 pm on the same day.


On return direction, the Palani-Coimbatore passenger special will leave Palani at 1.45 pm from February 2 to 11 and reach Coimbatore at 4.45 pm onthe same day.
