Man attempts to sexually assault step-daughter, held
A man who attempted to sexually assault his step-daughter was arrested by the police in Manapparai in Tiruchy, on Thursday.

Investigations revealed that 48-year-old Kannan (name changed), a lorry driver from Madurai, was planning to go to Karaikudi, with his step-daughter, to visit his son, who has been pursuing engineering
On Thursday, while they were on their way, Kannan stopped the lorry at Keeranur bridge near Vaiyyampatti, and asked his step-daughter to get down.
Suddenly, Kannan attempted to sexually assault her but hearing her screams, passersby rescued her and handed Kannan over to the Vaiyyampatti police. Later, he was handed to Manapparai All Women Police station, who registered a case against Kannan and arrested him.
On Friday, the girl was sent to the Tiruchy GH for medical examination.
