In a first of its kind, Tamil Nadu government will be launching a Science magazine for school and college students across the State in a bid update latest technology.

The unique of this book, titled ‘Engum Ariviyal’ (Everywhere there is science), is that all the contents will be contributed by students, teachers, college professors and public only. Science City, a wing of Tamil Nadu Higher Education Department, will be the nodal agency in publishing the magazine for the students from January 2020.


A senior official from the Science City told DT Next that the magazine will have three chapters such as school level contributions, college level contributions and University level contributions.


Accordingly, high school students, teachers, college students, professors and even public will be sending their contributions through proper channel.


“A committee comprising professors, academicians and Science experts has been constituted by Science City to select the contributions for printing”, the official said adding that all the contributions, which comes for the magazine, will be related to Science activities.


“Various content such as Students Science activities in their respective institutions, Science innovations at the college level, individual Science invention both at School and College level, interesting thesis, which could of public use, from professors will be available in the 56-page magazine”, he said.


Stating that a circular has been issued to all the schools and colleges including private institutions across the State to send the contributor’s list, the official said after composing the contents, the magazine will be printed at the end of every month.


“During first week of every month, the magazine will be sent to all the institutions”, he said adding the magazine is likely to be free of cost for government institutions while a minimum amount will be charged from the private schools and colleges.


The official said the printing of magazine will be made according to the requirements and the magazine will also be sent to all public librariesin the State.
