Kovai man suspected behind bomb threat to Secretariat
An anonymous call stating that bombs would explode at the residences of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and at the state Secretariat for supporting the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), kept Chennai city police on its toes on Thursday.

Police traced the call to Coimbatore and have formed special teams to nab the caller. After the call was received at the police control room on Wednesday night, special police teams, along with bomb detection and disposal squad personnel and sniffer dogs made a thorough search of the Secretariat premises.
Security was beefed up at the state government headquarters on Thursday while the search operations of the bomb detection squad along with sniffer dogs continued for the second consecutive day.
People were allowed after thorough frisking into the Secretariat and at the residences of Palaniswami and Panneerselvam. The bomb detection squad checked the parking lot and all the offices, including grievances cell where public gather in large numbers to submit their petitions, thoroughly.
