Pondy man gets double life for murder
Puducherry Principal District and Sessions judge Dhanapal on Thursday convicted and sentenced a man to double life imprisonment in a murder that took place here in the Union Territory in 2017.

The judge also slapped seven years’ Rigorous Imprisonment under Section 201 (destroying evidence/giving misinformation) of the IPC and a fine of Rs 2000 on Sivakumar.
According to the prosecution, Sivakumar killed his father Selvaraj, an ex-serviceman, and his sister’s son Bharath over a property dispute.
After two days, he cut the bodies into pieces and disposed it in the Poothurai dump yard.
Initially, a man missing case was registered and the bodies were recovered. The case was later changed to murder.
Subsequently, D Nagar circle inspector A Kannan took charge of the investigation and arrested Sivakumar on April 19, 2017.
