Principal opposition party DMK would hold state-level meetings on November 16 to explain the 20 resolutions adopted during its general council meeting on Sunday.
A resolution to this effect was adopted at the meeting of the party district secretaries at Anna Arivalayam on Monday. The meetings would be organised in all districts on November 16, Saturday, said a statement.
DMK president MK Stalin would address the meeting in Dharmapuri, while treasurer Duraimurugan would detail the general council resolutions, especially one detailing the corruptions of the AIADMK regime, in the state capital.

A statement jointly issued by Tiruchy Siva, A Raja and Thanga Tamilselvan, propaganda secretaries of the party said the resolutions detailing the Income Tax Department raids conducted at AIADMK Ministers’ premises, BJP led Centre’s attempt to protect the corrupt Ministers despite availability of evidence and AIADMK’s support to the Union government’s projects detrimental to Tamil Nadu should reach the people.

The state level meeting would be held at all 65 party districts. The district secretaries were also understood to have deliberated on the amendments made to the party bylaw.

Significant time was allotted to discuss the creation of ward-level posts numbering one lakh after dissolving the existing panchayat level party organisation. As the arrangement has continued for over 30 years.
Civic poll forms to be accepted from November 14 to 20
Principal opposition party DMK has instructed its party workers to collect forms from respective district units between November 14 and 20 to contest in local body elections.
DMK president MK Stalin on Monday announced this after holding a meeting of party’s district secretaries at Anna Arivalayam. Declaring that DMK was poll-ready, Stalin said, “Even before proper announcement was made regarding the local body polls, the ruling AIADMK has made an announcement inviting applications from interested party men.”

“Whatever, DMK is eagerly awaiting the local body elections. We are ready to face the elections any time,” the DMK president said, adding that they had discussed it in detail at the district secretary’s meeting and decided to invite applications between November 14 and 20 for the local body elections. On the party’s organisational polls, Stalin who is also the Leader of Opposition said they have detailed it in the resolution adopted at Sunday’s general council meet.

Asked if they would face the civic polls in an alliance, he affirmed, “There shall be no doubt in that. Let the elections be announced. Formal talks would begin as soon as the civic poll dates are announced. Elaborating on the decision to form one lakh panchayat level secretaries, he said the existing panchayat level structure would be dissolved and ward-level party branches would be created as it was over 30 years ago. Later, speaking in a party worker’s wedding, Stalin alleged that the Centre has reclaimed unused fund to the tune of Rs 5,000 crore allotted for laying roads in Tamil Nadu only because of the alleged corruption of the ruling AIADMK. Referring to media reports suggesting that the Centre had reclaimed Rs 5,000 crore allotted for laying national highways in the state after it remained unused, Stalin claimed that the money was not spent because the AIADMK had vainly attempted to secure a commission out of it.
