‘No Indian website can upload Nerkonda Paarvai’

Justice Krishnan Ramasamy passed the order on Tuesday on a plea moved by Bayview Projects LLP, represented by Boney Kapoor, producer of the film.
The petitioner had contended that the Tamil movie starring Ajithkumar, Shraddha Srinath and directed by H Vinoth has been produced at a budget of Rs 100 crore. It is scheduled to be released on more than 2,000 screens worldwide on August 8.
Advocate Vijayan Subramanian, appearing for the producers, submitted that the official trailer of the movie published on YouTube on June 12 has already garnered 14 million views. Moreover, the producer has acquired all exploitation and distribution rights, including theatrical rights, music rights, other rights including TV, internet, digital and home video. Further, the rights are exclusive under the provisions of Copyright Act, he said.
“Various cable and internet services provided by various ISPs across the world are involved in activities of recording, camcording and reproducing the audio songs, audio-visual clips, audio-visual songs and full cinematographic films that are screened in theatres through various medium. They sell the same for a meager sum without any authorisation from the production houses,” the advocate added.
