    The Arumbakkam police arrested a person, part of a two-member gang, who attacked a call taxi driver on 100 Feet Road near MMDA. A video of the incident, captured by a passer-by, went viral.

    The incident took place on Saturday evening when the victim, Tamilselvan (35) of Arumbakkam, was returning home after work. He was stopped near MMDA by two men who allegedly asked Tamilselvan to come for a trip. When Tamilselvan refused saying that the booking should be made online, the duo removed the keys and got into a quarrel with him in the middle of the road.


    When Tamilselvan tried to make a call to the police control room, they attacked him and snatched his mobile phone and a wallet containing Rs 4,000. In the attack, Tamilselvan sustained injuries on his face. The duo then fled the spot. But another motorist who was passing by recorded the incident using his mobile phone. Later, Tamilselvan lodged a complaint and submitted the video clip. The police launched a hunt for the suspects, and nabbed one of them, identified as Surya, a house painter. The other suspect remains at large. Meanwhile, the video clip circulated widely on social media on Sunday.
