Pointing out that certain sections of the media has reported that as per the report by Comptroller and Auditor General of India, the Tamil Nadu government has surrendered Rs 3,600 crore unutilised to the Centre; the CM said that it is our duty to clarify this wrong news which shows the government in bad light.

If the expected fund is not released for a scheme by the Centre, then the state too holds the sanctioned amount and is considered as savings. “Next year, when the funds come from Centre, the state government too allots its share. In this aspect, it is wrong to say that the state has sent its funds unutilised,” he said, after inaugurating the government exhibition in Salem district.

“Under no circumstances, the state has sent back its funds. Even during the DMK rule, a similar scenario prevailed. The state government has utilised the entire funds received from the Centre,” he said.
