After urban campaign, Stalin on rural stroll for votes
DMK president MK Stalin on Friday said that the AIADMK government did not extend the Hogenekkal Drinking Water Scheme to entire Vellore district as it felt that the credit for the scheme introduced by the DMK will go to its late chief M Karunanidhi.
Vellore
Campaigning for the party candidate DM Kathir Anand by sitting on the courtyards of houses, Stalin said if the DMK won in the constituency, the scheme would be extended to all areas irrespective of party affiliation.
Similarly, old age pension which had not benefitted many would also be extended to all, he added.
Thanking voters for electing the DMK in the recently held Parliamentary election and Assembly bypolls, he called on those present to send Kathir Anand to Parliament.
Stating that the poll to Vellore Lok Sabha seat was countermanded by the false propaganda of the ruling party, which felt that if Duraimurugan and his son were given a bad name, the DMK would lose. But people did not believe it and hence the DMK won in 38 constituencies, he added.
The AIADMK was not interested in conducting the local body polls and hence many areas were without medical, road, transport and drinking water facilities, he charged.
Villages visited by Stalin included Somalapuram in Ambur Assembly segment and in Sathampakkam and Ayathampatti villages in Gudiyattam Assembly constituency.
