Black post cards sent to PM on talaq bill
The Tamil Nadu Muslim League (TNML) on Thursday staged a novel protest against Triple Talaq Bill and Amendment Bill to National Investigation Agency (NIA), passed by the Union government in the Parliament.

In the protest, staged in front of Triplicane Post Office, the protesters, largely women, sent black coloured post cards to Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing their anguish against the Centre on the Triple Talaq Bill and the NIA Amendment Bill.
During the protest, VMS Mustafa, founding president, TNML, said, “The BJP-led Union government is following divisive politics by enacting new bills which are aimed at targeting the minorities. Though the government knew that the two bills are against the interests of the minorities the Centre is desperate to create fissure among the minorities.”
He also said that Muslims are following Sharia law for several centuries and Triple Talaq is part of Sharia law, but now the Centre has passed the Bill which is against the Sharia. Similarly, in the NIA issue the national agency is continuously targeting the minorities and the new amendment will further strengthen the agency by giving unlimited powers so that more number of minority youth will be targeted, said Mustafa.
