PMK raps DMK’s U-turn on NIA Bill
PMK leader S Ramadoss on Monday criticised the DMK for earlier supporting the National Investigating Agency (NIA) Bill and now criticising the same.

“When the Centre introduced amendments in NIA Bill, DMK voted in favour of the Bill, but now it is criticising the same. Is this criticism due to fear of loss of minority votes in the upcoming Vellore Lok Sabha election,” questioned Ramadoss, adding that it is not the first time for DMK to make U-turn in issues concerning people.
He also said that the NIA was first setup in 2009 and when the NIA Bill was first introduced in 2008, DMK was in power and in Congress alliance with the Centre. “The DMK wholeheartedly supported the NIA Bill in 2008 and now had made a U-turn claiming that NIA is targeting minority youth,” said Ramadoss.
He further said that there is no doubt that national investigation agencies set up through such Acts have largely been misused, but DMK in the past had been responsible for bringing in such an organisation and now is opposing due to its opportunistic politics.
Like NIA issue, DMK in the past had supported NEET, but after losing power it started opposing NEET. DMK was the party to bring hydrocarbon and methane extraction projects to the state but after losing power the party is now opposing the same project.
People will understand the double standards of DMK and will teach them a lesson in the coming election, said Ramadoss.
