Multiple websites of School Dept have wrong info about officials
As the State is mulling to improve its education standards, many websites of Directorate of School Education, which controls all institutions in the State, have outdated information due to lack of staff.

Similarly, the website of Tamil Nadu State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), the nodal agency that brings out new curriculum and other research activities, have wrong information about its top officials.
The websites of Directorate of School Education and Directorate of Matriculation Schools still retain their former directors name in their portals. While Directorate of School Education retains the name of its former director Dr V C Rameswaramurugan, who got transferred to the Directorate of Matriculation Schools, the officials of Directorate of Matriculation Schools handling more than 12,000 self-finance institutions across the State, retain the name of Dr S Kannappan, who got transferred to Directorate of School Education.
Adding to its woes, the Tamil Nadu government official website has old information of both the officials. Similarly, the website of SCERT, has not changed its director Dr G Arivoli, who has been transferred to Teacher’s Recruitment Board eight months back. Apart from having a wrong director’s name in the portal, the website of School Education Department has outdated information, where the latest government order is from the year 2018.
A senior official from the School Education Department told DT Next that the government has not appointed any specific staff to update the websites. “The updating is carried out only by the existing employees, who are not well trained to take care of web portals,” he said. The official admitted that despite several instructions through circular, the latest information does not get updated in important websites, especially related to school education.
Going by the statistics given by the officials, in 2018 alone more than 50 government orders were released. However, the department website contains only 14 of them. In 2017, the website posted only two orders while there is not even onefor 2016.
