The training would be given in 70 coaching centres that would be set up across the State. A senior official from the School Education Department told DT Next that the government would seek help from Southern India Regional Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India to identify the auditors to provide training to students from government and government-aided schools.

“About 50 training centres will be located in rural areas so that students from those areas can avoid travelling to the cities to pursue CA courses, paying more money,” he said.

Instead, the auditors would travel to the training centres to conduct coaching, the official said, adding that students would be trained for CA foundation exams in the first phase.

“In addition to the training, experts will create awareness about the job opportunities,” he said. The duration of the free training programme would be around three months. The official said that depending upon the response, more training centres would be established in the required areas so that more students would be benefited by this initiative.

The foundation examinations are held twice a year, in May and November. It comprises four papers, out of which two are subjective and two are objective type.

The subjects covered in foundation course include Principles and Practice of Accounting, Business Law and Business Correspondence, Reporting Business Law, Business Correspondence and Reporting, Business Mathematics and Logical Reasoning and Statistics, Business Mathematics and Logical Reasoning, Statistics, and Business Economics and Business and Commercial Knowledge. The second part of the course will have subjects such as Business Economics, Business and Commercial Knowledge.

“A comprehensive study material covering all subjects will be issued the students who register for the training programme,” the official added.
