Vote for Kathir Anand, ‘parrots’ Pollachi astrologer

The idea is the brainchild of a group of party men from Coimbatore south unit, led by district secretary Thendral Rajendran, reportedly roped in the astrologer, Rajendran, a native of Pollachi, for canvassing votes.

Rajendran, was in action at the junction of Bazaar Street and Four Poles area. He predicted the fortunes of those who approached him. But the prediction for all of them was the same – Vote for DMK for your problems to get resolved.

Every time, Rajendran asked the parrot - Pandi - to pick a card, it would select one with the picture of DMK patriarch Karunanidhi or his son and president of the party Stalin. The cards also said, “Your problems will be resolved if you elect Kathir Anand.”

When a woman daily wage worker innocently asked the ‘star’ campaigner when her financial woes and the water scarcity would end, Rajendran witha straight face replied, “They will be solved if you vote for Kathir Anand.”

Needless to say, the exercise provided some amusement for residents who are going to vote much later than the other LS segments in the State after the polls were cancelled following the seizure of over Rs 11 crore during an Income Tax raid at a DMK leader’s house. However, some die-hard believers still sought him to predict their fortunes.
