Film director Pa Ranjith, who appeared before the Kumbakonam court on Tuesday in a case pertaining to making controversial statements against king Raja Raja Chola, was granted three days’ conditional bail.
Ranjith, who participated in a public meeting at Thirupananthal near Kumbakonam on June 5 reportedly made controversial comments against Raja Raja Chola, which was opposed by the public and a wide protest was staged across the region. Later, Ranjith approached the Madurai bench of the Madras High Court for an anticipatory bail and the High Court bench then directed him to approach the Kumbakonam court within 15 days for conditional bail.
Based on the order, Ranjith appeared before the court on Tuesday and Magistrate Balasubramanian granted three days’ conditional bail from Wednesday.
