Advt for Pondy SEC selection annulled

Government whip Anantharaman under rule 63 of the Assembly Business rules brought to the notice of the House that an advertisement for the appointment of a SEC was given and it seems that the Lt Governor had did this with an ulterior motive and wanted the Speaker to do the needful. AIADMK legislature party leader A Anbazhagan intervened to state that it could be taken on Tuesday and urged the Speaker to adjourn the house for the day. Heated exchanges followed and then Local Administration Minister Namassivayam replied that because of a case, the local body election in the UT was delayed. He also said that the Governor do not have any right to intervene into the local body election process. Following this, the Speaker annulled the notification.
