Delivering his address at a meeting for celebrating Kamaraj’s birth anniversary in Tirupattur, in Vellore district, Kamal said, “Education should reach every person and Kamaraj dreamt of giving education to all, but now students are forced to write examination in other states which political parties in the state should not allow.”

He also said that Kamaraj’s dream of education to all should be implemented in its fullest and all politicians should insist upon the Union government to bring necessary changes in giving compulsory education to all.

Kamaraj was able to give education to all only because education was in state list, added Kamal.

    Hindu groupsoppose MNM chief

Meanwhile, Hindu groups in Tirupattur raised objections to Kamal Haasan’s visit to the town. Quoting the previous statement of Kamal on Godse and Hindu terrorism, the Hindu groups submitted a petition to police demanding permission to protest against Kamal. But as the model code of conduct was in place throughout Vellore district, the permission was rejected. Despite rejection of permission, Hindu organisations threatened to show black flags to Kamal Haasan, but due to large number of police personnel the protests were not witnessed.

However, the election officials had already instructed MNM party workers that if Kamal makes controversial statements on religion strict action would be taken and after assurance from the MNM office-bearers, permission for Kamal’s meeting was given.
