Triples in Tiruchy: 2 die, woman serious

Two persons including the newly married man was killed after the bike in which they were riding triples was hit by a lorry while nearing Valadi Sivan temple, here on Thursday. The two men died on the spot while the wife is still battling for life in a government hospital.

The couple Mohan-Ramani, who got married on last Sunday, decided to give a lift to Mohan’s friend Ranjith on Thursday. After picking-up Ranjith, the trio were proceeding to Mullikaruppur village from Lalgudi. While nearing Valadi Sivan temple, a lorry that was coming behind them, hit the bike in which they were travelling. In the impact, all the three were thrown out of the two-wheeler and the lorry ran over both Karthick and Ranjith, in which both of them died on the spot while Ramani sustained major injuries.

On information, the villagers rushed to the spot and retrieved the bodies and sent them to the Lalgudi Government Hospital. The injured Ramani was rushed to Tiruchy GH and sources said that her is still critical. Meanwhile, the police are on a hunt for the lorry driver who is absconding. Eyewitnesses said that the riders were not properly following the norms and at the same time, claimed that they were also riding the two-wheeler in a high speed.
