Six killed in 2 different accidents across state
Six people, including two women, were killed in two separate incidents of vehicle collision in the State on Tuesday.

In one incident, three people were killed and one injured after the car, in which they were travelling, reportedly hit the rear side of a government bus on the Virudhunagar – Sattur bypass road in the early morning hours of Tuesday. The deceased were identified as Kamalam (70) of Manjanayakanur near Pollachi, Subramanian (50), and Sekar (52).
Virudhunagar Superintendent of Police (SP) M. Rajarajan, when contacted, said the inicdent occurred around 4.15 a.m. After inquiries, the SP said the car’s driver, Ayyappan (53), could have fallen asleep and lost control before hitting the Nagercoil-bound bus from Bengaluru. All the three passengers in the car succumbed to injuries on the spot, while Ayyappan suffered injuries and was taken to Virudhunagar Government Hospital. He was later referred to Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital.
The SP said the victims were travelling from Pollachi to Trivandrum in Kerala to avail medical treatment when the incident occurred. Fire and Rescue Services personnel attached to Virudhunagar station rushed to the spot and cleared the accident scene, sources said. The Virudhunagar East police have filed a case under Sections 279,337 and 304 (A) of the IPC, sources said.
In another incident, three people, including a 38-year-old woman died, after their car rammed into a lorry coming in the opposite direction in Salem district on Tuesday.
According to the police, Paulraj (43) from Ariyalur district, his wife Radhika Mary (38) and their relative Chinnapparaj (38) were all returning in a car after visiting a temple in Namakkal when the incident happened. Rajan (30), who was driving the car, reportedly lost control of the vehicle that jumped the median and collided head-on with a lorry coming from the opposite direction. In the impact, Radhika, Chinnapparaj and driver Rajan died on the spot. A case has been registered.
