The bus was bound to Tirupur from Pollachi. Some passerby who noticed just two tyres instead of the usual four in the rear side had taken video of it using a mobile phone.

The video was circulated widely in social media highlighting how the safety of passengers has been taken for a ride by the Transport Corporation. When queried, the TNSTC officials accepted that the bus was operated with just four wheels.

“The bus, TN 38 1419 is a condemned vehicle and became unfit for transportation. Hence it was decided to demolish the bus for scrap. For this purpose, the bus was taken to Mettupalayam bus depot through Kamanaickenpalayam, Somanur and Annur route from Pollachi. Already senior officials were informed on the movement of bus and its route,” said a senior official.

Moreover, there were no passengers in the bus as it was taken to be condemned.

“Those who circulated the video have failed to notice the fact that the bus was empty without any passengers,” the official added.
