The Department of Technical Education (DOTE), which conducts counselling process this academic year after Anna University refused to do it, has made elaborate arrangements at Government Polytechnic College Auditorium at Taramani in the city.

The counselling for students coming under reserved categories was just completed. A senior official from DOTE told DT Next that the counselling will be held in multiple rounds according to the student’s merit list, which released last week.

“During the first round, students from rank one to 9,872, with marks ranging from 200 to 178, are expected to participate,” he added.

According to him, there will be four rounds of counselling, which will end on July 28. He said each round of counselling will be held for five days.

During the second round, students from rank 9,873 to 30,926, marks ranging from 177.75 to 150, would participate while applicants from rank 30,927 to 64,093 and marks ranging from 149.75 to 115 will attend the third round.

During the final round, candidates from rank 64,094 to 1,01,692 and marks ranging from 114.75 to 77.5 are expected to attend the counselling.

Initial payment made will be adjusted in the college tuition fee during the admission and 80 per cent of the initial payment will be refunded to the candidates those who do not join any college.

The students would be given time until July 6 for joining the college that they chose during the counselling. “Otherwise, the payment would be refunded and the seat would go to the next deserving candidate,” the official said.
