BJP govt avenging state: Vaiko

Addressing reporters at Chennai airport, Vaiko said, “The state government is not in a position to oppose the schemes of the Centre such as ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ and now the Centre had decided to recruit the lower judges on its own which is an infringement on the rights of the state and has taken away the federal nature of the country. BJP-led Union government has razed down all the policies and principles upon which the country was constructed.”

He also said that the BJP govt is avenging the state in all possible ways. “By giving permission to inspect and prepare plan for Mekedatu dam by Karnataka government it shows that the plan was charted well by the Centre. Even Union Minister Sadananda Gowda from Karnataka is determined to construct Mekedatu dam,” said Vaiko.

He further said that plan was designed in 2015 in the house of a BJP Union Minister by Sadananda Gowda and Rs 5,912 crore was allotted. “Centre had given indirect green signal to give environmental clearance for the dam and the news had also appeared in media. If dam is constructed in Mekedatu, dams including Kabini and Krishnarajasagar will not be filled and Cauvery water will not reach Tamil Nadu,” said Vaiko.

Already there is severe water crisis is the state and even US media carried a news on water shortage. “Titanic hero, De Caprio, too posted on social media about the crisis which shows that the state had not taken any preventive measures to handle water crisis. The water bodies were not desilted and rejuvenated,” Vaiko added.
