According to sources, K Ramachandran, a resident of Kakkanur at Muthukulathur in Ramanathapuram, was working in a restaurant in Kuala Lumpur for the past 10 years. He was scheduled to leave for his native place on Friday. As Ramachandran was not feeling well little before his departure to India, his employer asked him to stay back. But he refused and was firm in taking his homeward trip.
As per plan, Ramachandran despite his illness boarded the flight to Tiruchy on Friday night from Malaysia.
Though everyone alighted after the flight landed in Tiruchy, Ramachandran was found sitting on his seat motionless. The crew thought that he was asleep and attempted to wake him up. As there was no movement, the crew grew suspicious and they sought the help of a medical team to check on him. After a thorough check, the medical team confirmed that Ramachandran was dead.
On hearing the news of Ramachandran’s death, relatives became furious and staged a protest on Saturday alleging that safety measures in the flight was not up to the mark.
On information, the Airport Director, Gunasekaran, pacified the protesters by holding talks and assured them of necessary action over the death of Ramachandran.
