JIPMER gets 1 more suspected Nipah case
A man suspected to have been infected by Nipah virus was admitted at the Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) here on Monday Night. This is the second case of a person from Cuddalore being admitted in the hospital for showing symptoms of the fever.

According to sources, Ramalingam, hailing from Cuddalore district in Tamil Nadu was working in Kerala.
As he suffered from high fever, he returned to his native town and got admitted in a hospital there.
As there was no improvement in his condition and the patient showed symptoms of Nipah, doctors referred him to Jipmer in the Union territory.
Ramalingam was then admitted in an isolated ward there and his blood samples were sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune for diagnosis.
It may be noted that Natarajan (52), also from Cuddalore district and working at Guruvayur in Kerala, was admitted to Jipmer on June 10 with symptoms of Nipah. His blood samples too were sent to the virology institute in Pune, but it showed negative for Nipah.
Doctors reportedly confirmed that Natarajan, who died two days ago, was having encephalitis.
