Skimmers fixed in Kovai ATM, manhunt on

Police said the staff of a private firm, engaged in filling cash in ATMs, found a skimmer and a micro camera fixed in the machine on Thursday. On receiving information, the crime branch police seized the skimmer and micro camera. The police examined the CCTV recordings and found two persons fixing the skimmer and micro camera in the machine.

A search is on to nab the duo, who was suspected to be part of a larger network involved in thefts following similar modus-operandi. Only a few months ago, the police arrested a six member gang involved in ATM skimming. They had stolenupto Rs 20 lakhs by stealing the data of ATM users by fixing a skimmer and a hidden camera to record the pin numbers of users in an ATM.
