    Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday inaugurated a fuel station established inside Puzhal prison by Indian Oil Corporation.

    After inaugurating the fuel station, Palaniswami said, “To improve the activities of prison markets the state prison department in association with Indian Oil Corporation had established the fuel station. The fuel station will further help in the reformation of prisoners.”


    Apart from the fuel station, Palaniswami also inaugurated several other buildings related to police department constructed at the total cost of Rs 36.2 crore, including the police quarters with 137 houses constructed in Kovaipudhur, in Coimbatore district at the cost of Rs 10.88 crore, another police quarters containing 124 houses in Thuraimangalam, in Tirunelveli district, at the cost of Rs 15.21 crore, four police stations in the state, including the station at Chitlapakkam and few other buildings for police officials.


    Palaniswami, through video conferencing, also inaugurated buildings for Tahsildar offices in Thoothukudi, Srivaikuntam, Kalaiyarkovil, Singampunari, both in Sivaganga district and in Sulagiri in Krishnagiri district. The Tahsildar office buildings were constructed at the total cost of Rs 12.79 crore.


    The Chief Minister also laid foundation stone for Disaster Management Centre to be constructed at the total cost of Rs 15.7 crore in Ezhilagam building, in Chennai. The centre will house a training centre and state emergency responsible centre.


    Green awards for Collectors


    Chief Minister Palaniswami also distributed green awards for district collectors who did exemplary works for the betterment of the environment. The awards for the year 2018 were bagged by The Nilgiris Collector Innocent Divya, former Madurai Collector K Veera Raghav Rao and former Tirunelveli CollectorSandeep Nanduri.


    Palaniswami also distributed green awards to two other IAS officers for helping the government in better implementation of plastic ban across the state. P Amudha, Commissioner, Food Safety and Drug Administration Department, and Shilpa Prabakar, Tirunelveli Collector, who are Regional Coordinators for the plastic implementation scheme were the two officials to receive the award.
