The activist, who came to Coimbatore, entered into a quarrel with the police demanding to remove the banners at Thudiyalur bus stop. Following this, the police officers obliged and started removing the flex boards with help of the local people.

They also removed a flex board kept by BJP party men praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for winning a second consecutive five-year term with a full majority in the Lok Sabha polls. After the banner was brought down, it was allegedly torn by the social activist.

This resulted in members of the BJP and Hindu Munnani quarrelling with Ramaswamy. The police, who were at the spot, intervened and tried to pacify the party workers. Then, ‘Traffic’ Ramaswamy got into a car and attempted to leave the spot. However, the party men blocked his vehicle demanding to register a case against him. They also attempted to stage a road roko.

As the situation grew tense, the Periyanaickenpalayam DSP Mohan arrived at the spot and convinced the irate party workers that action would be taken against Ramaswamy, if party men lodged a complaint.

Following this, the BJP workers allowed Ramaswamy to leave the spot. This incident led to traffic snarl for a while on the busy stretch.
