Tension in Pondy House as supporters of Lakshminarayanan stage dharna
Tension prevailed in the Legislative Assembly premises here as the supporters of K Lakshminarayanan, Parliamentary Secretary to Chief Minister V Narayanasamy raised slogans and held dharna on the steps leading to the assembly hall on Monday.

The agitation was to register their protest for not making Lakshminarayanan as the Speaker of the Territorial Assembly who was an aspirant for the post.
The supporters of Mr Lakshminarayanan came to meet Mr Narayanasamy and he asked them to wait for ten minutes as he was proceeding to pay tributes to former DMK president M Karunanidhi.
Meanwhile, the supporters met Minister Kandasamy and indulged in a quarrel with him before sitting on a dharna.
When Chief Minister returned to the Assembly, he invited them to his cabinet room and he along with Ministers Kandasmay and Kamalakannan held talks with them and apprised them that it was the decision of the party High Command to make Sivakozhnthu the Speaker and that he will convey their sentiments to HC.
The Chief Minister also assured to talk to Mr Lakshminarayanan, who kept away from the assembly session today. The supporters later left the assembly premises. Meanwhile, Mr Lakshminarayanan removed the name plate as “Parliamentary Secretary to the Chief Minister” at his house and also in his chamber in the Assembly premises and locked the room.
He also left his official car inside the Assemblypremises.
