The nativity issue is very important and needs to be verified offline. Therefore, the counselling will remain offline,” said Vijaya Baskar.
He also said that the state health department is yet to decide on implementing the weaker section quota in medical sections. “The amendment has not been brought up yet, thus, the existing 69 per cent reservation remains unaffected. The state will inform the Union Ministry on 10 per cent of the seats for the quota after discussion with the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary on the same,” he added.
As per the current regulations, the existing quota of 79 per cent reserved seats and 21 per cent of open admission category will continue in the state. “We will seek additional seats to accommodate students under the new quota. Though other states are finding it difficult to fill the existing vacancies, we have got approval for additional seats and we will be able to fill them as a large number of applications have been received,” he added.
