EC must clarify on AMMK’s nil votes in 300 booths: TTV
Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) general secretary TTV Dhinakaran on Sunday sought clarification from the Election Commission (EC) on his party getting zero votes in close to 300 booths across the state.

Addressing reporters in front of his house in Adyar, Dhinakaran said, “I received information from my party men across the state that in close to 300 booths our party did not get even a single vote. Leave the people and the party men. What about the booth agents? Did they not vote for our party?”
The AMMK, which was expected to create upsets in many constituencies failed to open its mark in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. Though the party came next to DMK and AIADMK alliance in the state in most seats, it failed to create any impact in the recent Parliament elections and Assembly bypolls.
Following the declaration of results, Dhinakaran while addressing the media said, “I accept people’s mandate. We thought that we will garner large number of votes and will be a force to consider in the state but we failed. We will regroup and will come strong.”
When asked about the zero votes for the party in several polling booths across the state, he replied that they suspected large scale malpractice in The Nilgris constituency as in more than 50 booths their party had not obtained even a single vote. “Our party booth agents even debated with District Returning Officer about the absence of votes in polling booths and only the EC should reply for us. The official data would be available online soon and everyone will come to know about it,” said Dhinakaran.
He also said that similar issue happened in his own booth, in Adyar. “In the polling booth in which I voted, our party had obtained only 14 votes. All my family members, friends and well wishers had their votes in the same polling booth, but the number of votes polled are totally disproportional,” said Dhinakaran.
When asked about his previous claims that he had sleeper cells in the AIADMK, he replied that no confidence motion will be passed soon and “you will get to know about my sleeper cells when voting happens on the floor of the Assembly.”
