Dravidian movement is invincible: Stalin
With poll win, DMK alliance has become centre of attention: Oppn leader.
Chennai
Reiterating his commitment to rationalist principles propounded by Periyar, DMK president M K Stalin has said that no amount of trickery would be able to decimate the Dravidian movement.
In his first letter addressed to party cadre after the sweep in the Parliamentary polls, Stalin said the public acceptance for a secular approach in the state groomed by Dravidian movement, Periyar, Anna and Karunanidhi has garnered appreciation across the country. “The DMK alliance has got the attention of the entire country,” he said, adding that the people have passed a verdict indicating that no amount of trickery would be ableto decimate the Dravidian movement.
Describing the 12-seat victory in the Assembly bypolls as the record highest ever and likening the LS poll sweep to victories achieved in 1971 and 2004 Parliamentary elections, the DMK president said the rulers and political rivals who could not stomach the victory were consoling themselves by opining that the intention of DMK was not fulfilled. “I do not want to spoil their short-lived happiness. We have other pressing duties to discharge,” Stalin, who is also the Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly, said.
“The spectacular victory achieved in the LS and Assembly bypolls was a fitting reply to those who conspired to destroy the DMK by claiming that there was leadership vacuum and suggested names to fill the same after Karunanidhi’s death,” added Stalin, shortly after taking his MPs to Anna, Karunanidhi and Periyar memorials to pay their homage.
Refusing to claim personal credit for the victory, Stalin said that it was made possible by the enviable hard work of cadre on the path charted by Karunanidhi. Thanking allies and various wings of his party, the DMK president said they were not the kind to be satisfied with the victory and have the duty to take instructions from the people and fulfill the promises made to them. He also added that the party would continue the ideological partnership it shared with the allies to prevent ‘divisive’ forces from taking roots in the State.
