They stopped around 10 omni buses transporting voters from various places across the state as well as neighbouring Karnataka. Accordingly, around 7 am, the police spotted 10 omni buses full of people. When the bus was nearing Pallapatti, the police stopped all the buses and inquired the occupants. This however, led to a heated argument between the passengers and the police. The passengers explained that they were travelling to their native place to cast their votes. The police were not satisfied with their response and took the buses to police station. Later they were released. It was said that political parties had arranged free vehicle services from Karur bus stand to Pallapatti. The mini bus drivers refused to reveal their names and the party that had arranged the service.
