Man murders wife suspecting infidelity

Auto driver Saravanan(34) of Madurai's Avaniapuram killed his second wife Archana Devi (19) a Karagam dancer, suspecting infidelity. Her corpse was found in their bathroom.

Saravanan's first wife committed suicide a few years ago. She was survived by him and their 3 children. He was acquainted with Archana Devi as a passenger and soon they were smitten by each other and got married. They have a 2-month-old daughter.

He dissuaded Archana from her dancing career claiming it involved a lot of obscenity. But she was tenacious, her resistance made him suspect her modesty. This doubt ensued a lot of argument which escalated to Saravanan murdering Archana and hiding her corpse in their bathroom.

Their neighbours complained to the police after finding their house pervaded with suspicious silence. Avaniapuram's Inspector Ilavarasu, Sub-inspectors Karthik and Ganeshan stormed into the house. They found Saravanan sitting next to the corpse of his wife. Her body was sent for postmortem to the Government hospital and Saravanan was arrested.
