The outcry for Kamal Haasan's 'Hindu terrorist' remark is yet to subside and the Makkal Needhi Maiam's chief took on the term 'Hindu', yet again. On Friday, He tweeted a picture of his statement.

The statement read, the term 'Hindu' is nowhere to be found in the works of 12 Vaishnavite Alwars and 63 Shaivite Naayanmaars. It is sheer ignorance to identify ourselves with a foreigner's label. It is the Mughals who named us Hindus and the Britishers consolidated the pluralistic society into this term.

It was further stated that though 'Indian' term too was only as old as the term 'Hindu', the 'Indian' term could stand the test of time. It is highly erroneous to closet the varied communities into the term 'Hindu'.

This tweet has rekindled the unmitigated discontent the right-wing groups had with Kamal Haasan's earlier 'Hindu terrorist' remark.
