    12 observers for counting in Pondy 

    The Election Commission (EC) has appointed 12 observers to oversee the counting process in four regions of the Union Territory on May 23 pertaining to Lok Sabha elections in Puducherry and bypoll in Thattanchavady Assembly constituency.

    Chief Electoral Officer V Candavelou in a release on Friday said, eight observers will supervise the counting process in Puducherry, two in Karaikal and one each in Mahe and Yanam regions.


    He said the counting of the votes polled in the Lok Sabha elections and the Thattanchavady Assembly constituency by-election, here on April 18, will be counted at the Women’s Polytechnic and Motilal Nehru Polytechnic on May 23, for Puducherry region.


    Candavelou said that for Karaikal region, the votes would be counted at the Anna Government Arts College, Karaikal. The votes would be counted at the Jawaharlal Nehru Government Higher Secondary School and Mini Civil station respectively for Mahe and Yanam regions.
