    At 98 per cent, Erode tops list in overall pass percentage

    Erode district performed the best among all the district in the state when it came to Class 11 exams. It secured an overall pass percentage of 98 per cent.

    Tirupur, which fared well in both Class 10 and 12 board exams, ranked second with a pass percentage of 97.9 per cent, followed by Coimbatore with 97.6 overall pass percentage.


    Chennai has improved its score by securing 96.86 per cent as against previous year’s 94.40 per cent.


    Districts like Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Virudhunagar, Madurai and Namakkal managed to rake in 97 per cent. On the government school’s performance, the Directorate of Government Examination said that Erode district stood first by getting overall pass percentageof 96.97 per cent.


    Government schools in Chennai too fared better this year with 92.03 pass percentage. The figures for 2018 stood at 89.72 per cent. Districts like Tirunelveli, Tuiticorin, Namakkal and Karur have also performed well in the Class 11 board exams by securing a pass percentage of more than 94 per cent.


    The overall government school performance also seemed better than that of 2018. Accordingly, this year the government school students in the state have managed an overall pass percentage of 90.6 per cent compared to 2018 figure of 83.91 per cent. Tamil Nadu has 2,810 government higher secondary schools.


    Of the total 3.1 lakh students, 2.8 candidates from government schools managed to clear the exams. Meanwhile, 62 prison inmates from across Tamil Nadu have cleared their board exams.
