Judicial inquiry begins into Salem encounter
A day after a history sheeter was gunned down by police in Salem, a judicial magistrate began his inquiry into the incident on Friday.

Judicial Magistrate III Saravanabhavan examined the body of Kathirvel kept at the mortuary in Salem Government Hospital.
He then inquired with doctors and relatives of the deceased and recorded their statements. Saravanabhavan also questioned Inspector Subramani, Sub Inspectors Maari and Periasamy and constable Rajamani about the alleged encounter.
Thereafter, a post-mortem was performed on Kathirvel's body in the presence of the Judicial Magistrate. It was also videographed. The body was then handed over around 2.30 pm to family members, who then took it to his native Mettupatti Thathanur village.
