TN government announces cash reward to Gomathi and Arokiya Raj

The Tamil Nadu government announced cash awards of Rs. 10 & 5 lakh to Gomathi and Arockia raj respectively. Gomathi tasted gold in the 800 metres and Arockia Raj won the silver in the relay race. Gomathi, the Trichy-based athlete won in a record timing of 3 minutes and 10 seconds.

Earlier, the DMK supremo MK Stalin gifted the same tender to both the athletes and Tamil Nadu Congress Committee presented Rs 5 lakh each.

These talents were not just honoured by politicians but also by notable actors. Actor Robo Shankar announced Rs.1 lakh cash prize on hearing the news of Gomathi's achievement.

Vijay Sethupathi, who is busy with his next 'Laabham' gave a cheque of Rs. 5 lakh to her through his fans club and had a telephonic conversation with her.
