Vaiko, in a statement, said, “In the ongoing election campaign in various states, Modi’s speeches are targeted at countering terrorism but looking back at the history of the BJP candidates it is shocking to know that BJP has selected candidates with terror background.”
He also said that in Bhopal constituency, in Madhya Pradesh, Pragya Singh Thakur, who is the prime accused in Malegaon blast case, is made the BJP candidate. “Pragya Thakur was the accused in Malegaon bomb blast in which 10 persons were killed and more than 80 were injured, but the BJP had given seat to her, which is highly condemnable,” said Vaiko.
He further said that 71 former bureaucrats had written a letter to Modi asking him to withdraw Sadhvi Pragya as the candidate. “Sadhvi Pragya recently said that investigation officer in Malegaon bomb blast, Hemant Karkare died in terrorists’ attack due to her curse. Karkare fought against terrorists to save people and officials like him should be celebrated but she had talked ill of him,” said Vaiko. Despite taking action on her for her speeches Modi is appreciating her as symbol of our culture which is condemnable,he added.
