Electrician held for Pollachi case 'follow-up'
An electrician, who harassed police officers for more than a month by calling up police stations to ask what action have they taken in Pollachi sexual abuse scandal, was arrested on Wednesday.
Coimbatore
The accused, C Velkumar (40) from Kavundampalayam, used to call police stations at 11 pm every day. He blamed police for inaction in the case and also abused them. He regularly made calls to the police control room in city and rural, and police stations in Sai Baba Colony, Kavundampalayam and Thudiyalur.
Despite him continuously calling for the last one month, the police struggled to trace him as he used different phone numbers. After ending the call, he used to switch off the number. So, the police laid a trap to nab him.
When he called the Sai Baba Colony police on Tuesday night at 11 pm, a police officer dragged the conversation so that a special team could track his whereabouts with the help of cyber experts. Following this, he was picked up from a residential neighbourhood at Kavundampalayam.
He was booked for preventing government officials from discharging their duty, abusing and issuing death threats. He was then produced in a court and lodged at Coimbatore Central Prison.
